Restroom, For Public, Reopens

Walking west on 42d Street toward Avenue of the Americas, Norma Schnuderl turned left at midblock into Bryant Park and abruptly pulled up short. As her companion went blithely into the city's newest public restroom, Ms. Schnuderl, a pleasant-faced woman with glasses, stood outside, puffing on a cigarette, muttering aspersions.

"I wouldn't go in there," she said. "I hate public johns." ...
